About Me
Photography has always been a large part of my life. My late father was a passionate photographer who ran a local camera club, and some of my favourite childhood memories are from the evenings he let me tag along. So many moments from growing up involve a camera in one way or another, either posing while Dad tested new gear, waiting patiently on countryside walks while he composed the perfect shot, and most vividly, being banned from the kitchen on Sundays while he developed his films (with Mum moaning that the chemical smell was taking over the whole house). Those early experiences are a big part of why photography still means so much to me today.
My parents gave me my first camera for my sixth birthday, and I've enjoyed taking photos ever since. About 30 years ago, I began taking the hobby more seriously, completing several intensive (and genuinely enjoyable) courses along the way. Photography has introduced me to some incredibly talented people who’ve become close friends. Together, we’ve travelled on photography trips and even held exhibitions to raise money for local charities.
My favourite subjects are abstract and landscape photography, with the occasional candid shot of an interesting character thrown in. I’m not a big fan of heavy editing; apart from the odd crop, I prefer to get the image right in‑camera rather than rely on major post‑production work.
As you’ll probably notice from my gallery, I have a real soft spot for photographing trees. I’m drawn to their texture and shape, especially when they’re bare or weathered, revealing all the intricate patterns in their branches.
Although I mostly shoot digitally these days, I still enjoy loading a roll of black‑and‑white film every now and then. One thing digital photography has taken away is that wonderful sense of anticipation, waiting for your prints to arrive and wondering whether they turned out the way you hoped. Shooting the occasional roll of film keeps that feeling alive for me, even if it’s a much rarer treat now.
I hope you’ve enjoyed exploring my site. I’d love to hear any thoughts, comments, or suggestions you might have. Feel free to get in touch through the contact page.
