About Me
Photography has always been a big part of my life. My Dad was a keen photographer and ran a camera club for many years. I used to love the evenings he let me go along with him. Many of my childhood memories involve photography in some way or another; posing for photos whilst Dad practiced with new equipment, waiting for him to compose and photos during long walks, however mostly it's being locked out of the kitchen on Sundays whilst he developed his films (with Mum complaining about the chemical smell permeating throughout the house).
My parents bought me my first camera for my 6th birthday and I never really stopped from there. Although I've always enjoyed it, I started taking my interest more seriously about 25 years ago. I've taken some very intensive but enjoyable courses over the past few years and along the way have met some talented people who have become good friends and I enjoy photography trips with them.
I particularly enjoy taking abstract and landscape photos along with the odd candid photo of interesting characters. I'm not a great believer in editing photos; I may crop the occasional one but generally I try to take a good photo rather than have to make huge alterations in post production.
Although I predominantly take digital photos, I occasionally still use black and white film as well. I feel one aspect that digital photography has removed from my life is the anticipation when your developed photos arrive in the post - will they be good or wont they? My black and white photography keeps that anticipation alive although on a much less regular basis.
As you may gather from my gallery, one of my favourite subjects to take is trees. I love their texture and form, especially when bare or dead which details the intricacies of the branch formations.
I really hope you've enjoyed viewing my site and welcome any comments or suggestions. Please don't hesitate to contact me via my website.
